Looking At Some Current Conspiracy Theories
FLAT EARTH:
A flat Earth doesn't seem to be excluded, but also doesn't seem to be required, by the words of scripture. I personally believe that the same is true for a spherical Earth. There is also truth in saying that in scripture God may sometimes give us words that are adequate for the needs of making us understand His point, but which could be expanded upon if He felt the need. We humans do that when talking about events or explaining things. We give the least necessary context about portions of the narrative that we're not focusing on so that we can get to the more pertinent part more quickly. I am quite sure that God knows all that could possibly be known about the shape of the Earth and its nature.
Here are some needs to prove a flat Earth, I believe. On a globe, the distance from the southern tip of South America to the southern tip of Africa is a certain distance, but on a map of a flat Earth it is a different distance. Also, on globe verses flat Earth map, the distance (let's say in the Atlantic Ocean) from where the equator leaves South America and where it encounters the continent of Africa is a certain distance. And finally, let's say the straight line distance on a globe verses a flat Earth map from southern Labrador to northern Ireland is a certain distance. Thousands of airplanes and thousands of ships must know the distances between those points or nearby points, so they have enough fuel to make the trip. So the fuel planners, the pilots, and the people tracking the transit times on such trips amount to many ten thousands of people. So if anyone would smell a rat it would be someone from those groups or similar. Can anyone fool such a large group of people, whose livelihoods directly hinge on knowing the truth of such distances, times, and fuel requirements? Could anyone keep such a large group from having many people who would break ranks and give up the great secret that they have all been keeping, i.e.: that the world isn't a globe or the world isn't flat, either one?
I have never known of a large group being able to keep a large secret, when there are so many within the group who must know the granular distance, time, and required fuel quantities.
Conclusion: We see spheres (circles presenting what appear to be different surface features when looked at during different parts of our year) when we look out into space, even with just higher quality home telescopes. So, if the Earth is not a sphere, then it would be hard to explain there not being millions of regular type people who wouldn't have noticed and declared the fraud all along during all of this time since maps have been used to navigate the globe. Whenever somebody first piped up to say, "You know, the miles and times, etc., just don't add up unless you think of the world as being flat!" then there should have literally been millions of others in various industries who piped up in agreement! If the spherical Earth map works for travel, that is a big clue for those of us who are in job classifications where we wouldn't depend on the truth of such things as time, travel speed, fuel needs, etc.
THE UNIVERSE IS A SIMULATION:
I don't see any way, comprehensible to a common person of common intellect. to prove or disprove this. If it is a simulation, it would have taken a creative ability and power on par with what we attribute to our Christian, Muslim, and Jewish Creator: the Father God Almighty. If that greatest of all powers decided to 'make us' using some sort of simulation, then so be it. If He did otherwise, so be that also.
I believe that anyone arguing in favor of the simulation idea holds very good cards to play, because they can always say, "That fact you are using to refute the idea that it is all a simulation is actually part of the simulation! It's a built in part of the simulation!" The simulation can always be represented as being so ingeniously complex that it explains arguments to the contrary. And in truth, if anyone could make such an ingenious simulation it would be God! So the whole discussion seems to be a 'chasing of the wind' as King Solomon sometimes liked to say. There used to be this old disrespectful riddle that people would ask, as if it was a joke on God: "Could God make a rock so heavy that He could not lift it?" It was supposed to paralyze Christians with an unsolvable logic problem that forced them to admit that an all powerful God couldn't exist, I suppose. It is as if the human who thought of that question was so clever that He could box God into a trap, a conundrum that cannot be answered without showing that God is limited in His abilities. I think that this question of whether it is all a simulation has that same aroma.
If the Universe is a simulation, our human senses were created/designed/programmed to make us believe we actually feel things. So presumably I will believe that I feel the unending joys and pleasures of Heaven if my soul is sent there, and the unending agonies of Hell if I am sent there. So, it becomes unprofitable for me, in my personal estimation, to stir up unsolvable conversations about whether it could all be a simulation. As best I am given to know...either way...I live in a reality where I am allowed to make choices, good or bad choices, as seen through my Creator's eyes and even my own. And He inherently possesses full and unchallengable authority to treat me according to His will. This inspires fear of God, which may lead me and others to repentance both for the infraction of His good rules, and the effect of our sins on other humans, and for the discouraging effect it had on our Father who hoped better of us, and on the possible condemning effect it has on our personal eternity. Simulation or no, God is real and to be loved and appreciated and feared!
Also, we should take note that any scientists trying to assure us that everything is a simulation must therefore be nothing more than simulations of scientists...so are we supposed to give their utterances great weight if they're just pretend people?
